Alistair Overeem applies for a new fighter’s license

Following his failure in passing a pre-fight drugs test last week, Alistair Overeem has filed an application for a new fighter’s license with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The news was announced by The Flying Knee and later confirmed by the commission’s Keith Kizer who stated that he assumes that the fighter will be at his April 24th hearing and that he has not requested his B sample to be tested.

The only reason for this is that Overeem must be very confident on his excuse for having high testosterone levels. In fact, his testosterone levels where 14-1, which is the same amount of fourteen men.

If the athletic commission don’t agree with Overeem’s excuse of being worthy for failing the test, he could be suspended from applying for another license for twelve months.

It’s common knowledge that the UFC and Dana White in particular are upset about Overeem’s test failing and they may cut the fighter should he fail to gain the license in two weeks. It’s very doubtful another American promotion could or would pick him up, which would leave just a couple of promotions who could possibly afford him – them being One FC and Super Fight League.

Should he be granted his new license, Overeem’s fight with Junior Dos Santos could very well be saved.
