UFC 146 poster for 'Dos Santos vs Overeem' on May 26 in Las Vegas

"The Heavyweights."

We're less than two months away from Ultimate Fighting championship (UFC) pulling the trigger on its upcoming annual Memorial Day weekend pay-per-view (PPV) event, which emanates LIVE from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sat., May 26, 2012.

Alistair Overeem applies for a new fighter’s license

Following his failure in passing a pre-fight drugs test last week, Alistair Overeem has filed an application for a new fighter’s license with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The news was announced by The Flying Knee and later confirmed by the commission’s Keith Kizer who stated that he assumes that the fighter will be at his April 24th hearing and that he has not requested his B sample to be tested.

The only reason for this is that Overeem must be very confident on his excuse for having high testosterone levels. In fact, his testosterone levels where 14-1, which is the same amount of fourteen men.

Three Options to Replace Alistair Overeem that Aren't Frank Mir

Barring some sort of divine intervention where St. Slobberknocker comes down from above to turn Alistair Overeem’s “B” sample into holy water it seems the only thing “The Demolition Man” will have destroyed by the end of May 2012 is the UFC 146 main event. Scheduled to face heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos for the divisional title, Overeem’s recent hit for testosterone abuse has left the UFC in a unique position where a huge headliner is in limbo with a lack of adequate replacements compounding the issue.

Heavyweight Title Still On The Line May

Whether he fights Alistair Overeem or not, Junior Dos Santos will still be in the cage on May 26th according to UFC President Dana White who confirmed the current heavyweight champion will still be action today.

Who Dos Santos will defend the title against is up in the air at this point while the UFC waits on word from NSAC regarding Alistair Overeem and his standing. Overeem failed a pre-fight drug test administered last week by the NSAC.
