One-Year Steroids Suspension Upheld for Cris 'Cyborg'
Cris "Cyborg" Justino will spend one year of her prime on the sidelines, the result of the California state athletic commission (CSAC) voting to uphold her suspension stemming from a positive steroids test last December.
It was all smiles for Cyborg on December 17, when she needed just 16 seconds to TKO Hiroko Yamanaka in her return following an 18-month layoff, but the good times didn't last when she was informed she tested positive for stanozolol after the bout. In her Monday hearing, she didn't contest the results but said she had been given the supplements by a member of her coaching staf...

Crunching Numbers: Why Positional Control Is Key to Understanding Gustafsson vs. Silva

Apr 8, 2012 - As the long drought in UFC events comes to a close next weekend, MMA fans will be treated to a thoroughly intriguing event in UFC on FUEL TV 2. This is notable for two reasons, not least of which is that this marks the UFC's debut event in Sweden. The most important consideration, though, is what the main event between Alexander Gustafsson and Thiago Silva will tell us about the future of the light heavyweight division.
Gustafsson enters this bout regarded by some as the next great UFC light heavyweight. The Swede has demonstrated a growing aptitude for the game and increasingly defeated better opposition, seemingly...
Alistair Overeem applies for a new fighter’s license
Following his failure in passing a pre-fight drugs test last week, Alistair Overeem has filed an application for a new fighter’s license with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
The news was announced by The Flying Knee and later confirmed by the commission’s Keith Kizer who stated that he assumes that the fighter will be at his April 24th hearing and that he has not requested his B sample to be tested.
The only reason for this is that Overeem must be very confident on his excuse for having high testosterone levels. In fact, his testosterone levels where 14-1, which is the same amount of fourteen me...

Three Options to Replace Alistair Overeem that Aren't Frank Mir

Barring some sort of divine intervention where St. Slobberknocker comes down from above to turn Alistair Overeem’s “B” sample into holy water it seems the only thing “The Demolition Man” will have destroyed by the end of May 2012 is the UFC 146 main event. Scheduled to face heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos for the divisional title, Overeem’s recent hit for testosterone abuse has left the UFC in a unique position where a huge headliner is in limbo with a lack of adequate replacements compounding the issu...
